Karen A. Resseguie acts as an Elder Care Manager for our elderly clients and their families, who are in need of Medicaid Planning, Elder Transitions Planning™, and other elder-related services. In Special Needs Planning matters, Karen acts as a Special Needs Coordinator and assists families that have persons with "special needs".
Ms. Resseguie has a broad medical and business background. Karen is a licensed Registered Nurse, certified Case Manager, and certified Risk Manager. She also holds a Bachelors degree in Business Finance and a Masters degree in Accounting.
Ms. Resseguie has extensive nursing and care management experience. Karen acted as a Quality Assurance Auditor for Heartland Home Care, which required her to supervise the registered nurses assigned to seven nursing homes. In that capacity, she assisted patients and their families with issues that involved their diagnoses, palliative care options, medications, and public programs available to pay for their care.
As an Elder Care Manager, Karen's duties include "Care Assessments" for our elderly clients who are transitioning from complete independence to some level of dependent living. The Care Assessment is an integral part in the creation of an Elder Transitions Plan™ for our clients. As part of our firm's philosophy, Karen makes every effort to develop a care plan that allows the senior to remain safely at home, for as long as possible.
In addition, Karen assists our elderly clients and their families by creating comprehensive "In-Home Care Plans", arranging necessary medical and personal care services, finding and interviewing geriatric specialists, locating and coordinating alternative living arrangements, and coordinating other helpful elder services (e.g. - transportation services).
In her capacity as our Special Needs Coordinator, Karen is responsible for developing a Life Care Plan that can be an essential step in Special Needs Planning and in determining the future needs and cost of care for a person with "special needs." Karen, in conjunction with our attorneys, assists families with the administration of any Special Needs Trust and with the management of the ongoing care needs of the disabled person.
