James G. Wald

James G. Wald is an attorney who is Of Counsel to the Estate Planning & Elder Law Services law firm.  Mr. Wald had prior legal experience while he worked at the law firm Sullivan & Leavitt, P.C., where he had a general practice with a focus on estate planning and probate administration.  Before that, Mr. Wald spent over a decade as a senior level marketing executive, during which time he worked on Chrysler's Corporate, General Motors' GMC Truck, and other major, non-automotive advertising accounts.

With extensive experience in estate planning and probate and trust administration, Mr. Wald is committed to guiding his clients through the design, preparation, and implementation of their estate plans, and to helping his clients navigate their way through confusing and complicated probate and trust administration proceedings.  His experience in the probate courts includes work with contested and uncontested decedents' estates, guardianships and conservatorships, and in the family courts with stepparent and adult adoptions.  Mr. Wald also provides services to small business owners, assisting them with the formation and maintenance aspects of various small business entities.

Mr. Wald earned his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law in Lansing, Michigan, and his Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Illinois.  While in law school, he received certificates of merit for his coursework in constitutional law, advanced legal writing, taxation, and advocacy.

Mr. Wald is a member of the Probate and Estate Planning section of the State Bar of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the Washtenaw County Bar Association, and the Brighton Bar Association.  He also maintains his memberships in the Kappa Tau Alpha National Journalism Scholarship Society, the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, and the Alpha Omega Honorary Scholastic Society.  Mr. Wald has authored an Informal Ethics Opinion for the State Bar of Michigan Ethics Committee.
