Elder Law is an area of the law that addresses issues affecting the elderly, including estate planning, retirement benefits, coordination and financing of elder care, governmental benefits (Social Security, Medicaid, etc.), protecting the elderly from abuse, and advocating for the rights of the elderly.  EPS' attorneys, staff, and Elder Care Coordinator, assist the elderly and their families every day with these and other issues.

Medicaid Planning

One the biggest fears of the elderly is that they or their spouse will have to enter a nursing home and that their entire life savings will be consumed as a result. EPS assists seniors protect their assets from being consumed by nursing home care costs.  This involves, among other things, counseling them on how to protect their assets and income with proper planning under the Medicaid rules.

Veterans Benefits

While the Veteran's Administration (VA) offers numerous benefits programs to veterans, there are two programs that can greatly improve the lives of elderly veterans in need of medical assistance and care that do not require the veteran to have a service-related disability. EPS' dedicated staff and network of professionals counsel veterans on their rights to these and other public benefits.

Elder Transitions Planning™

Our Elder Transitions Planning™ program provides our elderly clients, and their family, a "roadmap" of the options that are available to help pay for each level of elder care, including in-home care, assisted living care, and nursing home level care.   Our clients and their family find great peace of mind from having a plan of action in place ahead of time, rather than operating in "emergency mode" when something happens to them.

Elder Abuse Prevention

Unfortunately, seniors have become the favored target of unscrupulous third parties and family members who see their vulnerability as a means to profit.   EPS has developed the Elder Shield™ program to assist seniors and their families identify areas of vulnerability, implement safeguards, and provide a "fraud alert" system to warn our elderly clients and family members of the latest "scams" to avoid.

Elder Rights Advocacy

EPS' attorneys are aggressive advocates for the rights of our elderly clients. This typically involves advocating for the elderly who are the victims of financial exploitation or physical abuse and neglect. EPS and its network of elder care professionals offer expertise in the pursuit of all civil and criminal remedies. EPS' attorneys and staff are also aggressive advocates for the rights of seniors to receive quality care.
